GGTW 2019

I escaped LA for the Independence Day weekend while Laura jetted to Texas for a visit with her sister. I did the standard GGTW loop starting in Horseshoe Meadow. The first day was a long 15 mile slog over Trail Pass and through Tunnel Meadow. At the end of the day, I met up with some wranglers from the Rock Creek pack station. They clued me in on a sweet campsite right by the creek. On day 2, I wandered over to Big Whitney meadow and camped at the “Greatest Campsite in the World”. That night I felt tremors of the Ridgecrest earthquake. I wouldn’t know until the next day just how big that quake was. I concluded the trip on the 3rd day with a trek over Cottonwood Pass and returned to Horseshoe Meadow.
