Part 2 of our Texas adventure included a short stay at the Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin. It was something of a dream fulfillment as Laura and I always thought it was one of the classiest places in Austin when we were at UT. On the way from Conroe, we stopped at a BBQ joint called Southside Market in Elgin at the suggestion of one of my coworkers. Our activities in Austin included a lot of strong cocktails and good food. The Lonesome Dove was by far our favorite discovery for food and the Belgian beer bar, Mort Subite, required multiple visits. Non food related activities included exploring the State Capitol, UT campus, and the Blanton Art Museum. It was a great balance of discovering new stuff and visiting old haunts. On Wednesday my sister scooped us up and ferried us to her place in Seguin for Thanksgiving.
