Winter in SoCal is the best season and very much the reason why I continue to go to Catalina at this time of year. 2022 was no exception. The sun was bright, the water turquoise, and the temps never rose above 70F. Ideal conditions when biking fully loaded for 50 miles. In addition to the weather, everything else about the trek went off without a hitch. I made the usual pit stops at Two Harbors and the airport while on my way to Avalon. This year’s airport stop was especially notable because I serendipitously ran into a coworker just as I pulled up. He and a friend had just landed to grab a bite while out on a Saturday cruise. It was fun shooting the shit over some tasty burgers. Other than that, nothing too remarkable happened. Just a lot of solitary time with the buffaloes.
