Our friends Gwen and Ricardo are expecting their second kid sometime this June. As a result, Ricardo expressed a strong desire to get in one last camping trip before the demands of a newborn were fully upon him. Having never really explored beyond Avalon, Ricardo was fully onboard with a trans-Catalina trek from Two Harbors to Avalon. Our full day of backpacking was a tough one highlighted by lots of buffalo sightings and pleasant cloud cover. Although the spirit was willing, the flesh was less cooperative and we had to abort the rest of the trek at the airport (AVX). We made the most of the final day though. After we shuttled into town and checked into a hotel, we relaxed at some of the best bars and restaurants Avalon had to offer.
