We arrived to our destination in Maine just before sundown Thursday evening. After we checked into our bayside Airbnb we met up with my Mom and David at their bus. They surprised us with a feast of lobster and it was a great welcome to the area. The next morning, Laura and I secured our own provisions from a local grocer and then headed to Winter Harbor to pick up my multi-day bike rental. I was super excited to get a bike rental for the entirety of our visit. I researched the local area and knew it as going to be a boon for cycling. At the same time we picked up my rental, I convinced the rest of the party to “bike the loop” by pedaling around the Schoodic Peninsula. It was a scenic 12 mile haul that was later rewarded with beers and cheese curds at the Pickled Wrinkle. The weather was ideal and I couldn’t think of a better way to get oriented to the new neighborhood.
