Gouldsboro was the community we spent much of our time while in Maine and served as home base for the folks’ bus. The RV resort they were staying at was managed by a lovely couple that went to great lengths to provide fun summer activities for their guests. One such activity we participated in on Friday evening was an oyster class. It was hosted by a PhD aqua culturist from a nearby oyster farm named “Oyster” Annie. She gave us tons of info on how oysters are sustainably farmed and harvested in Maine. In addition to the info, we got hands on experience scrubbing and shucking oysters from 2 different farms for on-site consumption. Oysters, more than lobsters, were one of my favorite things about Maine.
The next morning Laura and I invited the folks over for breakfast tacos at our place. After we were sated, Laura insisted we explore the creepy basement of the house. There were no ghosts that early in the morning but we did find a cool storage area for the canned goods. The rest of the day was spent shopping and eating at the nearby town of Ellsworth since the forecast called for rain. We capped off the day with a visit to a local farm in Gouldsboro and picked up an assortment of produce to accompany our dinner.
