The Cu Chi tunnels outside of Saigon were the last attraction we toured in Vietnam. It’s a very popular destination and makes up just a small sample of the underground network the Vietnam guerrillas used to get an upper hand over the US Army. It was a surreal experience for us 2 Americans. A common theme across the exhibits show how Vietnamese ingenuity over powered superior American technology. One such example included an array of pit traps that were invented up to kill and maim soldiers.
I got a chance to scramble through a bit of tunnel which was a difficult challenge for anyone of average height. Quite the quad workout. I also tried fitting into a small hidey hole. Claustrophobic folks need not apply. Overall, I give the attraction a C. Glad to have learned about it but don’t need to ever go back.
