The Gallenbachs went eclipse chasing to Texas this week. It just so happens that our dear college friends, the Crails, have a house with a big backyard right in the path of totality. Viewing conditions on the morning of the eclipse were touch-&-go but by mid-afternoon we had enough breaks in the clouds to see all 2 minutes and 34 seconds of totality. I was fortunate to see the previous Great American Eclipse of 2017 in Oregon and this was just as brilliant as I remember!
But had the eclipse been ruined by the weather, it still would not have come close to ruining our trip because we had 3 additional days visiting Brad, Paige, Aaron, and Maggie. Lucy was quite the hit with the kids and they loved playing together. We ate lots of good meals, drank lots of good drink, and generally caught up with each others lives. We don’t see the Crails as much as we would like but it’s always easy picking up with them right where we left off.
