Escaping battlefield Los Angeles for Independence Day was a bit trickier this year with a toddler in tow but it worked out better than I ever could have expected. This year we spent a couple nights in a crummy Carpinteria motel with a day trip to wine country to pickup our club wines. Fortunately, we only slept in the motel so the quality of accommodations had no impact on the good vibes. Lucy was a champ at all the restaurants and continues to delight all strangers in her orbit. She also loved the playing in the sand at the beach and napping in her stroller.
