After a year of zero family visits, it was therapeutic to get a long visit from my Mom and David. Despite the increasing COVID cases in SoCal, they made the trip in their RV and literally traveled between their bubble and ours for the entire month. Them visiting is usually an excuse to take them to our new favorite LA places but this year it was all home projects and A LOT of cooking. Highlight meals of the month were paella, BBQ tritip, beef bourguignon, venison lasagna, fried flounder, and a smoked duck Xmas feast. The highlight house project was installing a double swinging Dutch door between our dining area and the kitchen. We repurposed a solid 5 panel redwood door that used to act as the entry to the walk-in pantry before our kitchen remodel. There’s still a little more work to do but we got it hung and painted before Christmas Day and now it helps contain the heat to the living area.
