The day after Christmas my Mom and David pulled up stakes at their RV park in Long Beach and relocated to a new park in Buellton. Another day after that Laura and I met back up with them to spend a few more days out of the city. We got our own cozy cottage on a small ranch just outside Solvang. It was beautifully quiet and an old style wood stove was the perfect companion for the wet cool weather we had. Much like the weeks before Christmas we wouldn’t do much of we normally did in the Santa Ynez Valley region. All the wineries were closed and restaurants only offered to-go dining. We made the best of it though. I got in lots of beautiful bike rides, we all played lots of board and card games, and like at home, we cooked lots of tasty meals. An added benefit to being in the area was that we could get some very fresh produce from charming farm stands along the canyon roads. After ringing in the New Year, Laura and I headed back to LA while the parentals planned their next stop on the road back to Texas.
