Part 2 of our fall vacation was spent in North Carolina at my folks’ new place just outside of Chapel Hill. Technically they live in Mebane but only people from Mebane would know where that is. The new surrounds are a sight nicer than what was available to us in the Fayetteville area. Chapel Hill is significantly more liberal and gentrified relative to the southern part of the state. And say what you will about gentrification and liberalism but on average those types of places offer better coffee, brunch, and beer.
In addition to lots of family time at museums, zoos, and farms, Laura and I had a great night out in Carrboro with southern inspired cocktails, a chef’s tasting menu dinner at Oakleaf, and a night cap at a very divey bar (The Kraken).
In general, this part of North Carolina know how to do fall. Made evident by the hours spent playing in leaf piles.
